Dr. Dhritiman Banerjee

President

Dhritiman started Kolkata Foundation with a vision of providing a platform to bring together Calcuttans around the word to work together to fight poverty in the city. Dhritiman grew up in Kolkata, and after completing a BTech from IIT-Madras, went on to do a PhD at UC Davis, both in Computer Science. His first startup, Internet Photonics, pioneered the concept of low-cost optical networking and was acquired by Ciena in 2004 for $150M. He is currently an SVP at DE Shaw, one of the largest hedge funds in the world, and lives in Princeton with his wife and two beautiful kids.

Nitin Kotak

Treasurer

Nitin was most recently the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, one of the largest science philanthropies in the world, with an endowment of about $19 Billion. He brings with him more than 35 years of experience of having worked with a range of organizations, from start-ups to large multinational corporations. His core competency lies in the areas of governance, strategy, financial performance evaluation, measurement of key metrics, finance, accounting and audit. Nitin is an alumnus of St. Xavier’s College and St. Lawrence High School, and his Kolkata connection spans nearly three decades.

Ramit Ghosh

Secretary

Ramit is an Electrical Engineer with over 30 years’ of experience in product development for US defense and industrial applications. He completed his BTech from IIT Kharagpur and a Master’s from Virginia Tech. He has served on the board of Capital IIT Alumni Association (a US Non-profit) from 2006 to date. In 2019, he received the Distinguished Services Award from IIT Kharagpur for organizing and promoting IIT alumni activities in the US. Ramit and his wife live in Virginia, Washington DC metro area. Ramit has been associated with Kolkata Foundation since 2019.
